The Open Space and Water Resources Component of the Comprehensive Plan

This past Fall (2002), students from the Environmental Planning Studio, Virginia Tech Urban Affairs and Planning Graduate Program, wrote a sample chapter of the new Comprehensive Plan--a chapter which included the typical components (goals, objectives, and strategies), as well as some new twists to an old form (an explanation and justification for each of the goals and community indicators, a means of tracking the County's progress in implementing the new comprehensive plan. The County will be using the basic design and framework developed by the UAP students, as well as building in indicators/performance measures throughout the new plan.
